our story

as an anesthesiologist i am required to cover my hair, to help keep the operating room sterile and my patients safe. as a naturalista, i found the standard caps to be drying for my hair and the cotTon rubbing on my scalp, to be damaging to my edges. I also couldn’t find a nice cap to contain all of my hair, they were always too small.

I wanted a solution, so I created caps that are satin lined to fully cover and protect my hair…. my crown. i also wanted to create caps that were so beautiful and versAtile that you could also wear them for your normal day to day activites or just to accessorize your outfit.

this fostered the birth of Zulisi. the word zulisi is a combination of two ibo words, from the igbo tribe in nigeria, a nod to my culture. the two words are “zulite”, which means to nurture and “isi,” which means head…your crown. Hence our tagline “Nurture your crown.” our mission is to create A line of STYLISH, SUSTAINABLE PROTECTIVE WEAR designed with and made by ARTISANS in NIGERIA, to do just that.
